| Whilst both teams had key players not available, it yet again proved to be a very close encounter between 2 good teams. Whilst both teams created chances, with only a bit of 'woodwork' or good defending getting in the way, the home team broke the deadlock. As Butters broke in from the right flank to support the attack, Albion half cleared the ball. Focussed on only one thing, Butters got a fantastic connection with the ball which saw it beat the Albion keeper from 20 yards. The game continued to be a close encounter, however the second half saw the home team apply a bit more pressure as changes were made to the visitors teams. 2 very slick goals from Jimmy and Ryan ensured Marchwiel marched onto the next round. A great win boys, against a very good team. A good run in this Cup will be a great achievement bearing in mind the standard of teams now remaining in this under 14's Cup. | Marchwiel were out of the blocks very quickly on this wet and windy encounter. Pressure was applied to the home team every time the visitors got the ball. Even though a few pre match selections had to be made due to warm up injuries, the shape and committment of all players never let up. With most of the first half being played in the home team's half, the pressure finally paid off with a slick finish by Adam after some great movement down the left. Possession by the visitors remained high during the half which quickly saw goals come in from Jonah and Jimmy. The visitors went into the half time break 3 goals to the good and seemingly well in the driving seat to go and dominate the game in the second half. Fair play to Penycae they never read the Marchwiel script. The home team came out and whilst a few changes were made to the shape of Marchwiel, never let the visitors have their own way. With good possession and movement, the home team created a number of attacks that got Marchwiel to realise they were now in a proper game. Pressure on the visitors defense led to a penalty which put Penycae well and truly back in the game. The second half then went on to be a very close encounter between 2 teams who know very well how to pass and move a football. Despite the end to end football Sean weighed in with a great strike that proved to be the winner after the Home Team scored another 2. This was definately a game of 2 halves..... Whilst nails were being bitten by the end of the game, i feel the visitors deserved the win overall after their first half performance. Well done boys, yet again. Whilst a bit of a dodgy second half, a few lessons can be taken away for future progress. Submitted by Tom Taylor | |||||
